We had a marvelous time with the good folks in Australia and New Zealand. I especially enjoyed:
1. Meeting the warm, hospitable, friendly folks passionately interested in reconnecting children and parents in ministry together.
2. Visioning about how what we've learned over the last 15 years might help the church in perhaps the most secular country in the western world.
3. Painting giant cartoons with acrylic as each conference progressed. (Starting with Black and White and ending in full blazing color.)
4. Traveling with Monty and Debbie.
5. Jumping the "Ditch" and doing New Zealand with the Presbyterians, Baptists, and Lutherans there.
As for the future, we'll be printing the Head to the Heart and Bible Song Journals with them in Adelaide, helping the Faith Inkubators Down Under Director, Peter Eckermann, and his national board (made up of a leader from each district) get started, and finding new and innovative ways to keep communication, training, and momentum going to help the church. It's going to be an exciting few years of getting the ground work done.
Now, if we can figure out how to harness the energy of all their young adult leaders into the artists, musicians, writers, and build a creative foundation under the church as a launchpad to Asian missions.
