Grey Hair and Hemmorroids

I had a blast at my 25th Seminary Class Reunion this week. Dr. David Preus, former president of my denomination and Dr. Lloyd Svensby, former president of my seminary were the speakers. Preus's advice to my classmates... who are all about old enough to become bishops:

'A bishop needs only two things to be qualified - grey hair and hemmorroids.

Grey hair to show maturity.

And hemmorroids so you always look concerned."

I'm off to Nashville today for dinner with my mentor/friend Carl George and some folks from Lifeway to see if what we're doing in terms of nightly faith talk might translate into some other denominations without too many tweaks. Tomorrow it's Abingdon/Cokesbury. Wednesday it's www.worship.net.
