I had a guest over yesterday, Dr. Lem Schaffer, and we came up with a little project. What would you think of something like this?
An American Immersion into Film, Friendship and International Understanding between future Israeli, Palestinian, and American Teenage Film Makers
Imagine mixing three teens from different cultures, handing them video cameras, laptops and editing software, giving them a crash course in television production, then hopping in a bus to tour the USA, filming and learning as you go. Here’s the set up:
* 15 Palestinian 16-year-olds (from the Bethlehem “Bright Stars” program)
* 15 Israeli 16-year-olds (from heaven knows where)
* 15 USA Kids (from the Faith Inkubators network)
* 45 donated video cameras
* 45 donated laptop computers with video/audio editing software
* 45 days on a bus together crossing America, starting in Hollywood and ending at the Statue of Liberty
Week 1: California Orientation,
Film Production Crash Course & Hollywood Immersion Experience
We begin our experiment
of film, fun & bonding with a three-day crash course in video editing and
production in mountains and beaches of California.
Youth are tripled up - one from each culture - and each team is given the
assignment of producing a short video suitable for streaming on the internet by
Saturday night. Then it is on to Hollywood
Saturday Stream Show 1 - 15 shorts
More Tomorrow.
I know a boy who I think needs an experience like that His life's vocation he believes is in the film industry but what a powerful way for him to connect the world, his homeland, his dreams and most importantly to me his own faith journey. Is this for real?
